If you've ever skipped makeup because it felt like too much work and took time you didn't have, you're not alone.

I used to skip makeup entirely, it felt like a chore, I didn't have the time, and I thought I had to have a million products, plus I didn't like the cakiness makeup felt on my skin when I did try to put some makeup on. But over time, I've found a few tricks that made it easy and quick without much effort, and most importantly, made me still look like me, but better.

Maybe you're a busy mom juggling everyone's morning chaos, or maybe you've never been big on makeup because it always seemed like a 30-minute commitment you couldn't afford.  Or you're starting to be curious about makeup and want to start, but just want something fast and natural. Whichever way you look at it, you still want to look fresh, pulled together, and as if you've got everything under control.

If that's you, this easy daily makeup routine is for you. It's quick, it's practical, and you won't need a lot of products or any experience. No contouring, no different types of brushes, no looking like someone else by the end of it. Just five easy steps, five minutes, and you'll look like the better version of yourself. Still you, just with a bit more life in your face.

So, whether you're getting ready for work, running errands, or hopping on a Zoom call, this daily makeup routine is simple, doesn't require any skills, and will give you a fresh look without eating into your time.

5-Step Daily Makeup Routine in 5 Minutes

This makeup routine takes more or less 5 minutes, depending on how fast you are. The more you get the hang of it, the faster it'll take. Each step is streamlined to save time while giving you that fresh, natural look. Here's how to do it, with hacks to make it slightly faster.

Step 1. Hydrate and Prime

Start with a lightweight moisturizer that doubles as a primer. This preps your skin and helps create a smooth base for the products that you're going to be putting on after.

I love using multipurpose products like a tinted moisturizer because it hydrates, evens skin tone, or a tinted sunscreen because it evens skin tone and gives you coverage from the sun, or better still, a tinted moisturizer with SPF, which gives you an even skin tone, hydrates, and protects your skin. Multipurpose products streamline a couple of steps into just one!

Whichever your preference is, apply it with clean fingers if you don't want to hassle with a brush. For me, fingers blend much faster than a brush, and you can get in all the nooks and crannies so much better too, so you don't miss a spot.

Focus on areas where you have any redness, like around your nose or cheeks. Now you're already halfway to a polished look!

Benefit. Hydrated skin looks brighter, and a tinted moisturizer gives light coverage without the feeling of heaviness on your skin.

Hack. Keep your moisturizer in the fridge overnight. The coolness will reduce any puffiness on your face. And it feels good!

Step 2. Conceal Strategically

You really don't need a full coverage concealer.

Pick a creamy, medium-coverage one and dab it only on areas where you need it, like your under eyes, around your nose, or on blemishes. Use your ring finger to blend; it's gentler, faster and more precise than a brush.

I have dark circles from lack of sleep, so a good concealer is my lifesaver!

Benefit. Concealer hides imperfections and gives you a well-rested look in seconds.

Hack. Mix a drop of concealer with your tinted moisturizer for an all-over brightening effect. It saves time and looks natural.

Step 3. Add Warmth with Bronzer or Blush

Adding a bit of color makes you look awake.

Using a cream or powder to cream blush is great as it blends and melts easily with just your fingers. But if you prefer powders, go for it. Apply the blusher on your cheeks.

You don't necessarily need to use a bronzer, but if you want to add a little more warmth with a bronzer, you can add some cream bronzer in the shape of the number '3' on each side of your face, starting at your forehead, sweeping along your cheekbones, and finishing along your jawline. Just remember to blend towards your hairline to make it look more seamless.

Benefit. Warmth on your cheeks just adds life to your face, mimicking a natural flush.

Hack. Use a multipurpose product that works as a blush, bronzer, and even eyeshadow. Now there are many blonzers (blush + bronzer) out there that you can choose from.

Step 4. Define Your Eyes

You can save the intricate eyeshadow routines for a special occasion. But if you're a beginner or in a rush, swipe a neutral cream eyeshadow across your lids with your finger for a soft wash of color.

Then apply a coat or two of mascara to your top lashes. Wiggle the wand at the base and pull through to lengthen. It automatically opens your eyes in mere seconds.

Use an eyebrow pencil or a tinted brow gel to quickly shape and fill in your eyebrows. A tinted eyebrow gel is so easy to use to keep your eyebrows in place while adding a bit of color that can also fill in any spare areas, and you don't have to be precise with it.

Benefit. Defined eyes make you look awake, even if you've been running on only four hours of sleep.

Hack. Having a clean spoolie is handy to comb through clumpy mascara, and you can sweep bronzer on your eyelids to give it a quick wash of color without having to bring out a whole eyeshadow palette.

Step 5. Finish with Lips

End with a tinted lip balm or gloss. Choose a shade that's close to your natural lip color for a low-maintenance look. Lip balms or lip oils, especially, hydrate your lips and add just enough color to pull your whole look together. You don't have to mess around with lip pencils when you're using a lip balm or lip oils, and you can refresh your lips without even a mirror, so no fuss.

Benefit. A hint of colour on your lips completes and balances your look. A tinted lip balm nourishes your lips whilst giving them some color, whilst a lip gloss will give you those glossy, juicy lips that everyone wants. You can also achieve the same with a lip oil, which is usually less sticky than a gloss.

Hack. If you want your lips to be cohesive with your blush, you can mix your blush and clear lip balm on the back of your hand and apply it to your lips.

A 5-minute routine can transform your mornings. It's not about looking like a model, it's about feeling confident and ready, even when life's hectic.

This daily makeup routine is for busy women and moms, or even beginners, who need quick beauty hacks that actually work. With just a few products and simple steps, you can create a polished look in the time it takes for the coffee to brew.

Try it out and see how it fits into your morning. Tweak it to suit your style, maybe swap blush for bronzer or skip the eyeshadow. The goal is to make your makeup routine work for you, and not add stress!
