living intentionally

I'm sure that there have been days when you've looked at your calendar and wondered where the month went.

Not in a dramatic, "where did the month go" kind of way, but in a "did I even do anything for myself?" kind of way.

I'm tired. Not just physically, but mentally and emotionally. Like, deep in my bones and soul, tired. You probably know what I mean.

We do so much, work, kids, cooking, errands, always being emotionally and mentally for everyone, and somewhere in there, we tend to forget about ourselves.

Because the truth is, most of us are going through our days on autopilot. Just surviving. Doing everything for everyone, putting ourselves last, that's if there's any time and energy left.

So I started making this little list. Nothing fancy. Just small, quiet, ordinary moments that feel soft and meaningful. The ones that make you feel like you again. Little things that make you feel connected to yourself. Some are things you've probably missed doing. Some are probably things you didn't even know you needed. But they help.

And I want to share them with you, just in case you need some inspiration.

This isn't about fixing your whole life. It's about feeling it. It's about living more intentionally.

Just a gentle reminder to come back to yourself.

13 Simple Things To Add To Your Month To Live More Intentionally

This is not a productivity plan or a major list of things to do. But of small things you can try doing every month. Just one or two at a time. To feel a bit more alive, a bit more connected, and a bit more like yourself again.

Have One Lunch Date With A Friend

Not a rushed lunch date squeezed between errands. I mean a proper sit-down. With someone who gets you. Someone you can be real with. Just show up, eat good food, and talk about random things.

Or don't talk much at all. We all need that sense of connection outside of being a mom or partner, or worker. Even if it's only once a month, try it.

Spend a Full Day Outside

Leave your phone at home if you can. Go somewhere green, somewhere open. Sit under trees or walk by water. Doesn't matter where.

Just let the outside world calm and soothe your inner world. Being outside in nature (not a shopping mall) helps clear your head like nothing else. You even start to breathe deeper without realising it. It works.

Do Absolutely Nothing For One Whole Day

This one can be hard for many. It feels guilty for 'wasting' the day.

But sometimes your body just needs a full stop. It's not a lazy day, but a healing day. Not a quick nap, but a real pause. Stay in your PJs. No guilt. No chores. Stare at the ceiling. Just....nothing. Lay on the floor. Take a long nap. Binge-watch your favorite show if you have to do something.

Let your body and brain rest properly.

Go On A Solo Cafe Date

No work. Just you. Bring a book or do nothing. Order your favorite drink. Watch people walk past. It's not about being alone. See it as your mini escape. It's about enjoying your own company and knowing that you don't need someone else around to feel okay.

Journal Without Rules

Just write with your heart. No prompts, no structure, just write. Brain dump. Complain. Vent. Dream. Write out all the things that you've been holding in. It's your space, your voice. Living intentionally also includes making space to hear yourself.

Try Something New

It doesn't have to be anything big. It could just be a new recipe. A new book. A pottery class. A new coffee spot, even a new route to your usual place. Something outside of your normal routine. Something small that breaks your routine.

Trying something new wakes up a part of your brain that's been on autopilot. It reminds you there's more to life than just what's right in front of you. You just have to try.

Book A Self-Care Day Just For You

Schedule it in your calendar as if it were an important meeting. Block it out. No one else gets that time. Do things that make you feel good. A long bath. A face mask. A coffee alone. Reading in bed. You don't need a fancy spa, just a day that says, I matter too".

Wake Up Early To Watch The Sunrise

Even if it's just once a month. Set your alarm, make a cup of something warm, and watch the sunrise and sky change colors. Be present and take it all in. It's so still, it's oddly peaceful. It'll feel like the world is holding its breath, just for you. It's quiet and calm in a way we rarely get to experience nowadays.

And if it's already in your routine to wake up before sunrise, take a few minutes to truly enjoy the moment.

Watch The Sunset Too

There's something healing about watching the day end. And sunsets can feel like closure. Sit with it, breathe with it. Maybe say a quiet thank you to the day, even if it was messy. Let it mark the end of whatever kind of day you had. It's a soft way to close the day before you start the next one tomorrow.

Celebrate One Small Win

It can be almost anything, and it doesn't have to be anything life-changing.

You got out of bed when you didn't feel like it. You cooked dinner even though you were exhausted. You got through a tough week. You replied to that difficult email. We wait too long for the big milestones, but in general, life is made up of all the little wins.

Notice those little wins, and give yourself credit for them, because it does matter.

Listen To A Podcast That Feeds Your Soul

Find a podcast that speaks to what you're going through right now. It can be about parenting, healing, creativity, finding purpose, anything.

Take a walk while you listen or sit with a cup of coffee.

Let it refill something inside you. This is how to live intentionally with what you consume.

Take a 24-Hour Break From Social Media

You don't realize how noisy your brain is until you turn it off.

But for one full day, no Instagram, no scrolling, no watching how other people live. Just you, living your own life. It can feel uncomfortable and strange at first. But after that, peace and calm settle in. You can literally feel your shoulders relax, and hear your thoughts one at a time.

You should try this.

Write A Short Letter To Your Future Self

Don't overthink it when you're doing this. Just write what you're feeling right at this moment. What you're proud of. What's been hard. What you hope will feel a little easier for the next month.

It's not for anyone else but you.

When you read it later, it'll remind you of how far you've come, even on the days when it doesn't feel like it. Living intentionally means having some personal reflection too.

You don't have to do it all at once. Just pick one to start.

This isn't about ticking things off a list. Life isn't a checklist.

But every time you do even one of these things, you're showing up for yourself.

You're allowed to rest. You're allowed to feel happy. You're allowed to show yourself that you matter too. You're allowed to want more from your days than just getting through them.

Pick one thing from this list. Try it this month. Then try something else next month. You don't need to overhaul your life in one go. Just start with one small thing that makes you feel more like, you.

By the way, you're doing better than you think.
